12/29/2023 0 Comments The tube storeThis seems reasonable if the problem is the amp, which in my case it was. After the problems occurred, I called Eurotubes and they indicated they would be happy to test the tubes, but I would need to pay for return shipping. The amp had loose tube sockets, so there was some problems when I put the amp on top of a speaker. The JJ KT88s I bought from Eurotubes were perfectly matched. Reviews have become less positive at The Tube Store as well, so Shuguang may have put out a bad batch. The Tube Store still sells this tube as Preferred Series KT88. The model is no longer available for Dougs. My guess is the tubes may have been factory seconds. These have been extremely drifty and I probably should have returned them. I ordered a set of special production run KT88 from Doug's. The matching on the Sino El34Bs I ordered from AES was not great, but they have been reliable and sound as they should. I have not ordered any current production tubes from TC. My impression is their customer support is top notch. When I called to identify the problem, they immediately offered solutions to make it right, and I did not have to prompt them. I still order from them when the price is right, but I don't bother asking for testing services any more.Įvery tube I have bought from TC has included test results. I had to ask for the refund, and then they acted like I was hassling them. There was no offer to refund the fees I had paid for testing. When I called to discuss, their response was those are great tubes, so you don't need to worry about it. None of the tubes I received included test results or any sort of marks to indicate they had been graded. Their menu includes: Balanced Triodes, High Gain, Low Noise, and Matching. The first time I ordered from them, I asked for mulitple graded tubes. AFAIK the tubes I have ordered from Tube Depot have been fine, but I did not find the company to be the most customer focused. I believe Tube Depot usually prices some common tubes a dollar or two below the other popular tube vendors. I have ordered from Tube Depot, The Tube Store, Eurotubes, TC Tubes, KC Anos, Doug's Tubes, Tubes and More (AES), and a whole bunch of Ebay vendors.Īs far as saving money. Many businesses have a similar return policy, so this is in no way unusual. IMHO it's only fair for you to bear the cost of the return if you simply changed your mine. Accepting a return is going to cost the business. tubes installed for the first time in kit assembled amps, homemade/clone or modified amps, please make sure your homemade clone amp works first before installing our tubes.Īny returns not related to defective tubes will be at our discretion and then subject to a 15% restocking fee.ĪFAIK, Doug's is a very small business operation. tubes that have been installed in circuits for which they were not designed for and that exceed manufacturers maximum ratings as published on industry tube data sheets. installed, or biased improperly (or not rebiased at all) failure to meet testing/matching standards on any equipment other than our own.(Maxi/Multi-Matcher, Maxi-Pre, VTV dual triode characterizer, Amplitrex AT1000) non-defective tubes, for example, failure to achieve tonal bliss or used to troubleshoot your amp. tubes you purchased for amp you decided not to buy, an amp you sold or returned, or tubes you decided you weren't going to use(always keep spares!) Returns are considered only for defective vacuum tubes by the original purchaser, we do not accept returns for: I can empathize but I think the policy is reasonable and it is also clearly stated, although you do have to dig a bit.
